"GM Oshawa Vists For Buy-Off"

On Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 PCU was visited by a multi-disciplined group of people from General Motors Corporation for the buy-off of several pieces of equipment that will soon be installed at the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant in Oshawa, Ontario. In this case, the equipment was all refurbished machines, a Brake Fluid Processor originally built by PCU in 1991, and three AC Charging Machines originally built by the now defunct D&B Automation.

While the Oshawa Truck Assembly Plant is slated for closure, the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant will remain open. The Oshawa Car Plant is currently being re-tooled as a Flex Plant, meaning that the assembly line and equipment is designed such that it could be easily used to produce more than one model of vehicle.

The vehicle that will soon begin production is a modern version of GM's venerable Camaro. This is in response to Ford's recent release of the New Mustang which sports a 'retro' look reminiscent of the Mustangs of the 1960's and the Dodge Challenger. The new Camaro will be much the same concept.

The first Pilot Vehicle is scheduled to start down the assembly line at Oshawa on July 21st of this year, and the cars are slated to be offered for sale in the 2010 model year.
